As with most services that operate to improve the lives of people with disabilities we are funded by the local authority, and although this funding will meet people’s basic needs, as a result of changes to economic policy since 2007 local authorities have been under increasing pressure to cut social care budgets.
Consequently Newland Hurst has needed to use its charitable status and resources to raise money in any way that we can to ensure a high quality service for the people who live here. Fund-raising has therefore become an important part of our economic activity, and the staff team and residents regularly take part in fund raising events.
